Dave Sligting is an engineer by training, holding a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Pretoria in South Africa, his place of birth. He actively practiced as a project engineer in the country’s nuclear industry before spending time in the USA and Canada in engineering and management consulting roles, developing a focus on Computer Aided Design when this technology was still in its infancy.
Sligting was founder and Managing Director of Intergraph South Africa, the regional subsidiary of Intergraph Corporation, later moving to the company’s global headquarters in Huntsville, Alabama, in 1988, where he held business unit leadership positions in software product marketing, engineering industry sales and professional services.
In 1999 Sligting moved to San Diego taking a position as Area Vice President for Peregrine Systems, where he led the product marketing group for Facilities Management products and later served in the corporate group for business strategy.
For most of the first decade of this millennium Sligting served as Executive Vice President for Rolta International, the US subsidiary of Rolta India Limited, a global technology and services company headquartered in Mumbai. While fulfilling this role he led the development and nurturing of a strong and lasting relationship with the software giant, CA, both as a preferred services partner and as a channel partner. He was also instrumental in driving the acquisition of TUSC, a Chicago based IT consulting company, which helped position Rolta as a leader in the application of Oracle technology.
Roughly a year after retiring from Rolta International, where he had previously been a client of Matteson Partners, Sligting joined the firm as a partner dedicated to the engineering sector. “Through the years I have seen how the analytical strengths imparted through the basic training of engineers has positioned them to succeed in a really broad spectrum of leadership roles.
