MANAGING Partner & CEO
Katy Young joined Matteson Partners in 2007 and is the Managing Partner. Young is responsible for new business development and executive selection services, specializing in VP, SVP, and C-level searches. She works closely with the firms partners, believing that teamwork and applying collective resources to every search are critical to the success of the firm. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a BS in Journalism from Grady College.
David Schmidt joined Matteson Partners in 2012 and provides executive level searched in highly-technical industries. David leads the A&E practice; where he and his team focus on industrial, engineering, and technical-based functions. Prior to his career in search, David held VP and C-level positions for two venture backed software start-ups and a Fortune 500 company. Schmidt is a native Minnesotan graduating from the University of Minnesota.
Traci Cupp joined Matteson Partners in 2015 as a Partner. Approximately eighty percent of Traci’s clients are PE-backed and portfolio companies. Her expertise lies in developing long term relationships with clients and aligning herself with high-growth organizations as a trusted search partner and consultant. Cupp holds a BS from Michigan State University.
Steve McClellan joined Matteson Partners in 2019 with nearly 25 years of C-Suite experience in PE, Private and Public companies. Steve brings a fresh executive perspective to our recruiting process by implementing successful strategic plans that rely on Human Capital. He holds a BS from the University of Houston and a MBA from the University of Texas, Austin.
Wayne McDonald has more than 30 years of business experience, including roles in ownership and executive management at both public and private companies. He joined Matteson Partners in 2003 and focuses on C-level searches with expertise in the A&E practice. McDonald holds a BA in Marketing from Indiana University.
Candace Bird joined Matteson Partners in 2015 and focuses on sourcing and recruiting for technical industries and disciplines. She is specifically responsible for screening, interviewing, candidate presentation to clients, and client service management. Bird earned a Bachelors in Management and Communications from Concordia University.
Michele Stewart joined Matteson Partners in 2017 with 20+ years of experience in corporate, agency and government recruiting efforts. She serves as a trusted business partner to senior leadership planning and executing headcount needs and creating candidate pipelines to meet those needs.
Dave Slighting joined Matteson Partners in 2010 and leads research and sourcing efforts; especially for highly-technical roles. Previously, he held numerous executive roles with engineering and technology service companies. Dave holds a MS in Engineering from the University of Pretoria.
Hope Bozec joined Matteson Partners in 2009 and acts as key liaison to partners of the firm, all the while keeping in close contact with candidates. Her previous experience in Information Systems, Technology Human Resources and Administration helps to ensure an excellent experience and search process for each candidate we work with.
Dana Williams joined Matteson Partners in 2013 and specializes in the administration of retained searches. She oversees the operations of physical offices and acts as a key resource for clients. Williams has a strong knowledge of hiring solutions and talent assessments, and plays an integral role in vendor management and partnerships.
BILL MATTESON | FOUNDER
Bill Matteson founded Atlanta-based Matteson Partners in 1987 and retired in 2017. Bill continues to remain an important part of the firm. Matteson holds a BA in Economics from Central Washington State and has completed programs at the Wharton Business School.
